I hate to admit it, but I got scammed by Peter Huss who is promoting a real estate developement in Punta Duarte. He requested a deposit on a oceanfront lot that was to be titled in the Spring of 2006. That was 3 1/2 years ago.The lot never titled to this day and he refuses to return my money, even tho he could re-sell the lot for much more than he contracted with me. I cannot stress enough…BUYER BEWARE!!! Never give any money directly to anyone. Make sure this is a contract that protects you as the buyer and go thru a reputable attorney that will have monies deposited in an escrow account.

BUYER BE AWARE THAT PETER HUSS WILL CHEAT YOU AND TELL YOU WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR AND FAIL TO FOLLOW UP ON WHAT HE TELLS YOU. I TRUSTED HIM AND HIS WIFE, GABY, THAT THEY SAID THE PUNTE DURANTE PROPERTY WAS A GATED COMMUNITY AND PETER HUSS FAILED TO TELL ME THAT THERE WAS AN OUTSTANDING LAW SUIT AGAINST HIM TO MAKE THE ENTRANCE ROAD A PUBLIC ROAD. HE FAILLED TO DISCLOSE THIS PRIOR TO US PURCHASING PROPERTY. THE COURT CASE IS NOW AT THE HIGHEST COURT LEVEL SINCE THE LOWER COURTS WOULD NOT ACCEPT IT AND WE ARE ALL WAITING TO FIND OUT IF THE HIGH COURT WILL DESIGNATE THE ROAD AS PUBLIC. WE ALREADY HAVE A VERY PUBLIC ROAD THAT SUFFERS DRIVE UP TO THEIR HOME WHICH IS NOW CONSIDERED A HOTEL BECAUSE THERE ARE ROOMS FOR RENT SIGNS ALL ON THE ROAD FROM THE BEACH LEADING TO THEIR HOTEL. THEY DO NOT MAINTAIN THE ROADS THAT ARE WITHIN PUNTA DUARTE PROPERTY AND THE POT HOLES CREATED BY THE RAIN ARE IGNORED. PETER HUSS FEELS THAT ABOVE GROUND WATER LINES ARE SATISFACTORY FOR EVERYONE AND HAS FAILED AS PROMISED TO PUT THE WATER LINES TO THE FEW HOMES CURRENTLY ON THE PROPERTY UNDERGROUND. HE REFUSES TO PAY THE ELECTRICAL BILL AND FORCES THE CURRENT HOME OWNERS TO PAY FOR “HIS” WATER PUMP MISTAKE WHICH USES ELECTRICITY TO PUMP WATER TO HIS CEMENT WELL WHICH HAS BEEN LEAKING WATER AND REFUSES TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM THAT HE HAS CREATED AND FORCES THE EXISTING PROPERTY OWNERS TO PAY FOR HIS MISTAKES. ALL I CAN SAY THAT FOR TWO GERMANS, THEY ARE A DISGRACE TO THE OUTSTANDING GERMANS I HAVE KNOWN AND MET. I CANNOT RECOMMEND ANYONE PURCHASING PROPERTY FROM PETER HUSS OR ANYTHING HE IS SELLING FOR THE REASONS I HAVE EXPERIENCED MYSELF IN DEALING WITH PETER AND GABY HUSS.
I cannot express how both sad and foolish I feel reading these posts. My partner and I also got caught up in the ¨vision¨ of Peter and Gaby-except I nearly became part of the con. I saw (still do see) HUGE potential in what could have been done at Punta Duarte:eco conservation and education, horseback tours, photography…… We spent and wasted alot of time and money trying to get things arranged at P&G’s. However after living on site and seeing what was not being taken care of-the access road which is just dangerous during the rainy season, no back up generator for outages and the obvious lack of funds to do basics. On top of this I found out about the legal battle between Peter and Bob regarding the road. At the time I believed Peter’s version. Also the elitist requests in regards to what type of windows were allowed, as well as what would be acceptable to be seen around my own property were offensive. A lot of money was lost but more importantly I was heartbroken as this was to be my future. I had a lot of vision and the ability to back it up with action. We got out before losing more than our deposits but I remain saddend by the con game masquerading as friendship.
Peter and Gaby has not changed. They are the same cheats as they were before. They had an opportunity to sell Punte Durate for 6 Million dollars but Peter screwed around for 2 1/2 years with inventors want to develop this property and now they are backing away from Peter. Peter is so greedy and he has not spent a dime on development or improving this property and I have lived her for 2 years. Nothing changes with Peter or Gaby. They are both greedy. Peter even talked a Swiss lady into buying land and she even gave him a large deposit and when she found out about the problems with the property, she wanted her deposit back but he would not give it to her. He told her if she would sign a piece of paper stating now to pursue him anymore, he would give her half back. That was unacceptable and she never got a dime from Peter back from her deposit. We never got any of our deposit back either and nothing that was promised was done so fortunately we didn’t give any more funds to them. I love the area and places like Choli’s in Malena are authentic Panama. However what a heartbreak and frustration to see the many people conned under the guise of friendship by Peter and Gaby. I guess they are not together anymore but the damage has been done.
